Why did the British win the Battle of Trafalgar?
The Battle of Trafalgar is probably the most iconic sea battle in the history of Britain. It confirmed the naval supremacy that England had established throughout the previous century. The Battle of Trafalgar was fought and won on the 20th October 1805, it saw the beginning of the end of Napoleon's rule over much of Europe. The British fleet was commanded by Vice Admiral Horatio Lord Nelson, with Admiral Collingwood at his side. Nelsons strong leadership and tactics, some believe, helped win the battle.
